The second one, this.
By the time I write this, Mr. Modi would have already been sworn in for the third time. Well done I must say. I couldeasily waste my time (and yours!) in taking up sides on the modi-congress battle (where is BJP!? :P), but I'd rather leave that to the politicians and so-called journalists (a post on them in the future) and get down to a deeper fact that surfaced, and was easily forgotten with the emphatic win.
The changing face of Indian Politics, which might be employed in future owing to its success in Gujrat. One party (read: one man) throws up some controversial statement to the junta. Then the politician-friendly EC chooses to ignore it, but the other party's president responds by making some indirect remarks. Supporting her remarks by his own is the very Prime Minister sir, forgetting his role as the PM and acting as a petty party worker. The usual war of words then start (so very easily termed as the "thrilling part" of the contest by the shrewd CM), and by the time EC can wake up, its already voting time.
My point is - forget the results. Look around at the bigger picture - Elections are bigger than the democracy itself! Moditva or Hindutva, Feel Good or New India - these guys just manage to get some ridiculous topic around which the election revolves, the age-old popular topics like poverty, unemployment, education blah blah blah are brushed aside and strangely, the bholi-bhali public doesn't notice it. Strange, but the strategy does seem to be working perfectly!
Welcome to the best (or probably the worst?) phase of Indian politics. Any "thrilling" takers?
